Preparing Files

For best results please follow our guidelines.

FILE FORMAT:

We accept the following file formats TIF, TIFF, JPG, EPS, PNG, AI, PSD, and PDF. We can accept the following file formats: .DOC, .PUB, .XLS and many more but there is generally a small converting charge to prepare these files for press.

FILE SIZE:

The maximum file size acceptable for email is 7.5 MB (megabytes) per file. If your file is larger than this, please upload using www.treasurebayprinting.com.
The maximum file size acceptable for upload is 100MB (megabytes) per file.

RESOLUTION:

All file formats must have a minimum of 300 dpi (dot per inch) resolution.
The images designed for the web are done at a low screen resolution of 72 dpi. Print images need to be created at 350 dpi or there will be a substantial drop in the image quality.

COLOR MODE:

All color artwork and/or images must be provided in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color mode.
All black & white artworks and/or images must be provided in grayscale color mode.

BLEED:

Please build your press-ready digital files by adding 0 .125" dimension for all products especially business cards, postcards, and rackcards.
We require ALL files to be built to the full bleed dimension specified for each trim size.
We automatically trim off each edge, which will result in the desired trim size
Simply add 0.125" to the overall dimension of your digital layout. Example: a 5" x 7" would have a bleed size of 5.125" x 7.125" and a 8.5"x11" flyer would have a bleed size of 8.625"x11.125".

What's a bleed?

It is the portion of the card that will be trimmed off when cut to the final size.

Why bleed?

The purpose of a bleed is to continue a color, image or design to the edge of the card.

CROP MARKS:

Please build your press-ready digital files by adding crop marks.
Lines indicating where the paper should be cut to produce the correct size.

FONTS:

a. Fonts must be embedded in PDF files.
b. Fonts must be outlined or converted to paths or curves in EPS files.
c. Some fonts have copyright restrictions and will not embed in PDF Files.
d. Microsoft Publisher files must use the "Pack and Go" command to include fonts and images
e. Quark Express: Fonts and images must be included with all files submitted by using the collect for output command. (Mac only)

SAFE ZONE:

All critical elements (text, images, logos, etc.) must be kept at least 0.125" inside the edge. Anything left close to edge may be cut off during trimming.

BORDERS:

Please allow 1/16" cutting space around your card. No borders are recommended, as shifting in the cutting process may make borders appear uneven.

ALWAYS PROOF:

We ALWAYS recommend that you proof your print job before printing, even if you have submitted the files. Many people ask: "Do I still need to approve a proof if I send my work electronically?". It may seem like a proof wouldn't be necessary in this case, but it really is. Different computers and output devices process digital information in different ways. Your approval of the proof assures our equipment has correctly interpreted the information you have provided.
